3 Calls for proposals: INAF-IRA, OPTICON and CCI-ENO

The Istituto di Radioastronomia offers observing time with its telescopes at Medicina and Noto up to May 31, 2012. OPTICON has opened its Trans-National Access programme in semester 2012B. The CCI offers 5% International Time at ENO instruments.

1. With this extraordinary call the Istituto di Radioastronomia offers observing time with its telescopes at Medicina and Noto for the rest of the current semester to May 31, 2012.

Both antennas can be employed as single dishes for spectroscopic and continuum observations.

The antenna at Noto has undergone major maintenance work and is now under test which is expected to be completed by the end of March. For the remaining two months of the on-going semester proposals for Noto can be submitted.

At Medicina, a new K-band double-horn receiver will be commissioned and should become operative in the period between mid April and mid May.

Only proposals requiring the 22-GHz receiver can be accepted

The proposals will be peer-reviewed and should be submitted before midnight of March 1, 2012.

 

2. Call for Proposals to be supported via the OPTICON Trans-National Access programme in semester 2012B. The semester is centred on August 2012 to January 2013, but there are small variations at some telescopes to accommodate their normal semesters and maximise scheduling flexibility.

Deadline for submissions: 1200 UT on 29 February 2012.

 

3. CCI 5% International Time - Night time.

Curiosity si prende una pausa di riflessione

Il rover Curiosity della Nasa ha sospeso temporaneamente le sue attività scientifiche su Marte a causa di un problema tecnico. L'imprevisto sta costringendo gli ingegneri della Nasa a un super lavoro, anche se non sembra aver compromesso la salute del rover che rimane vigile e reattivo
